Our Story
Dr. Alan Marshall first ventured into the Classical Christian education arena when his boys were just starting school. He and his wife started with homeschooling their two young boys. As they grew older, the Marshalls started researching private Christian schooling and upon Dr. Marshall’s retirement from the Air Force, he became the Headmaster of Sandhills Classical Christian School in Whispering Pines, North Carolina.
During Dr. Marshall’s time at Sandhills, he led the school to their first accreditation with the Association of Classical & Christian Schools (ACCS) and also helped raise funds to purchase 60 acres, debt free for a new campus.
Following his time at Sandhills, the Lord provided an opportunity for Dr. Marshall to become the first President of Coram Deo Academy. At the time, Coram Deo Academy was the largest classical, Christian, collaborative school in the nation with three campuses in the Dallas-Ft. Worth mextroplex. Dr. Marshall was charged with formalizing their processes and procedures as well as their development/fundraising efforts. He again, led the school through their first accreditation with the Association of Classical & Christian Schools. Dr. Marshall was convinced that Christian, Classical and Collaboration were key ingredients to a successful and impactful education and a financially sound school.
Next, Dr. Marshall served as the President of the National Association of University-Model ® Schools (NAUMS). Here he developed a streamlined process to start new schools reducing the typical start-up time from three years to one year or less.
Dr. Marshall soon felt called to begin a new adventure. Although he is convinced of the power of a Christian, Classical and Collaborative school, Dr. Marshall believes that the there is a need for such a school with an emphasis on S.T.E.M. and a Christian theme of Freedom in America for a student’s history studies. Most classical schools are strong in Literature, Rhetoric and Fine Arts, but few are also strong in S.T.E.M subjects or have a Christian theme for Freedom in the history of America. Out of the desire to meet this need for a S.T.E.M. focus and his own patriotic military background was birthed Jabez Education.
Dr. Marshall’s teaching experience includes his time as an Assistant Professor and Course Director in the Department of Mathematics at the USAF Academy. He taught at the undergraduate and graduate levels for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Ph.D. level at Regent University. He also taught calculus and astronomy for seven years at Sandhills Classical Christian School (SCCS) in North Carolina and Coram Deo Academy (CDA) in Texas.
Prior to Dr. Marshall’s vocational entrance into education, he had an exceptional career serving in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Marshall graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with Honors and a double major in Astronautical Engineering and Math. He then went on to pilot training and after various flying assignments, became a U-2 pilot and served as the squadron commander of the U-2 combat flying squadron supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Colonel Marshall completed his 27-year active-duty military career as the Director of Safety for Air Combat Command responsible for aircraft mishap safety investigations for combat aircraft in the U.S. Air Force.
Dr. Marshall holds a Master’s degree in Applied Math from the University of Washington and a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Sciences from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He also holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.
